When renovating the home, there’s one thing for sure that will need to be used and that is tiles. Tiles are used for flooring, bathrooms, and any areas where wetness may be present. However, when it comes to choosing tiles for your needs, it can be difficult as there’s so many to choose from. Here’s some tips when selecting concrete effect tiles or other tiles so you can choose the right ones for your needs.
- Plan Ahead – It’s a good idea to plan ahead when choosing tiles. Make sure you buy tiles that are slip resistant if they’re going to be used on the floor. Another thing to consider is buying additional tiles, roughly another square metre. This can account for any breakages or when the tiler cuts the tiles.
- Grout Colour – When choosing a grout colour there’s many on offer, however try to work on getting a complimentary colour so they blend in. You want the tiles to be the feature point and not the grout. Try to aim for the same coloured grout as the tiles that are used. Alternatively use white grout with lighter coloured tiles for the best effect.
- Tile Size – Tiles come in a number of sizes to choose from. When choosing a size, it’s a good idea to work out which best suits your individual needs. Smaller tiles are better suited for areas where there’s a lot of cutting. Larger tiles are great for areas where there’s wide open spaces.
When selecting tiles, it’s a good idea to think of everything. These are just some of the things to remember. So are you going tile shopping this weekend?
